So much has happened over the last week! As far as modes of transportation go, Madeline has dispensed with her pivot-move & graduated on to full-scale, real, crawling. This of course means that it's about time for us to get on the ball concerning baby proofing, as she is now able to get into just about everything. She had a merry old time with the trash bin in the office earlier today - I'm sure you can see where this is going...
So, like any good parent (using our little babytron as an excuse), I ran right out & bought the vacuum that we have been coveting for years now. It's amazing, to say the least. And this afternoon, I merrily went around the house vacuuming everything I could find. Of course, being such a perfect parent, I did all of this for Madeline. Riiiiight, for Madeline...
Moving on!
As if crawling weren't enough, our babytron has also started eating small pieces of food from her high-chair tray! This brings her one step closer to actually eating the same foods as we do (we like it when there's less work for us). So it's all very exciting, to say the least.
So exciting, perhaps, as to sometimes be a bit overwhelming. Here's a quick video I shot of our herione at lunch... It seems the pears and rice proved too much for her to bear.

christmas eve at the beach...
Merry Christmas all! We have had the most lovely couple of days, now that the rain has finally stopped (for a while there, I was beginning to wonder if we had perhaps bought our tickets in error). It seems the vacation gods are once again smiling on us, as we are having a simply wonderful time!
Today we started the day properly with a morning swim out to the reef. We saw loads of lovely fish, as well as a rather cranky barracuda that escorted us both to AND FROM the reef. It must have been a special service since it's Christmas Eve, as I couldn't see how we could possibly be any more interesting to a barracuda than the scads of fish below us.
Barracudas aside, we spent a lovely day at the beach with Madeline. She is especially fond of the turtle grass that washes up on the beach. I think she was determined to collect each individual piece as it washed ashore. Yes, a big job, I know... but our babytron doesn't do anything by halves ;)

oh babytron, it's been awhile...
Boy oh boy, where does the time go? It seems I'm starting quite a few of my posts with a similar sentiment lately. But really, WHERE DOES IT GO? It has been so lovely to have these last few days off, it makes me think that perhaps it's time to reevaluate our hectic schedule.
First step... Wait, hold on... I'm on vacation! I'm not reevaluating anything right now. So I guess I can check off the first step as complete. Hooray!
Here's a shot of Madeline and her first experience playing in the sand... That's your queue to make with all of the oohing and ahhing. :)

what a day!
Today, Madeline had another go at eating peas. Unlike her first several attempts at the beloved green gloop, this evening she gobbled it all down (instead of pretending she was entirely too exhausted to manage another bite). Hooray for pea-progress!
In other news... Our young heroine has mastered the rolling from front to back technique! She had already mastered rolling from back to front, but it seems to have taken her awhile to get the knack of rolling in the opposite direction. Now that she has added this new skill to her bag of tricks, there's no stopping her! As a matter of fact, this evening she rolled all the way across the room!
She now comes equipped with her very own mode of transportation! Now we need to finally get that baby proofing started, before she gets a little bit *too* mobile.
No rest for the wicked, I guess... But I bet you already knew that ;)
:: edited to add the obligatory messy peas shot ::

weekend giggles
Just a quickie of Madeline giggling & making weirdie mouth movements yesterday morning :)
halloween pictures!
Since I have finally succumbed to the virus going around the office, I am forced to take it a bit easy today. Fortunatley, this means I have had the time to finish folding the laundry & upload the photos from Madeline's first Halloween.
Since she has already been making the noise, we were thinking that she should be Godzilla... Unfortunately, we got so busy with work & preparing for our Halloween party, we weren't able to purchase a costume in time for Madeline. Luckily, her super-nanny saved the day one afternoon and arrived with an outfit at the last minute - Hooray for super-nannies!
